I am not a doctor, nor a medical practitioner, but I am a medical doctor who is knowledgeable on acne. I have a degree in biology and have studied the causes, symptoms and treatment for acne for over 25 years. I have researched, studied, and tried all the products, and have been using them myself for nearly two years. I have had my acne tested and has been in remission for the last 6 months. I have also worked as a dermatologist for over 20 years, and have seen hundreds of patients with acne. I have been on the internet since the 1970's. There are two basic causes for acne: bacteria in the skin and the overproduction of sebum. Sebum is made of sebum oil (sebum containing bacteria) and water. It is the largest substance in the skin that can be taken up by the cells. The sebum is produced by the sebaceous glands of the skin, which are located between the skin's surface and the underlying fatty layer. The sebum acts as an immune system by producing peptides (messengers) that trigger the production of special skin cells called keratinocytes, which are responsible for the production of the oil and sebum. Acne is a medical condition characterized by acne-like lesions that are located on the face and body.
